NEWBORN project presented its work at MEA conference in Toulouse on February 8th. We were pleased to demonstrate here the advances and first results of our Digital Twin for our novel aircraft fuel cell propulsion system.
We presented a design of a digital twin for a fuel cell system that can be used for airborne applications, based on Simcenter Amesim’s first-principles dynamic modeling. The digital twin models the system from liquid hydrogen in a cryotank to propeller thrust. The digital twin is useful for system architecture design, controller design, controller HIL validation, and failure simulations. The model can be exported as a functional mockup unit (FMU) and shared within clean aviation projects.
MEA conference focuses on advancing electric aircraft technology, delved into a variety of projects, including complete electrification of propulsion, hybridization for increased efficiency, and the exploration of hydrogen propulsion.
